Upgrade Centos 5.5 to 5.6 problem

I have encountered a little problem during upgrade Centos 5.5 to 5.6. The thing was that during command:

yum upgrade

The process hangs forever so I had to stop yum and the upgrade failed. I have googled that the problem can be corrupted rpm database, so I had to rebuild it, and clean yum. this couple of commands did the trick:
rm -f /var/lib/__db*
rpm --rebuilddb
yum clean all
yum update

You can update system from the beginning or try to resume the previous update process by using program yum-complete-transaction from yum-utils http://yum.baseurl.org/download/yum-utils/
